Read-a-Thon… Hour 13!

Mid-Event Survey
1) How are you doing? Sleepy? Are your eyes tired?
2) What have you finished reading?
3) What is your favorite read so far?
4) What about your favorite snacks?
5) Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love!

1) I can’t shake the caffeine I had back in hour six! (Only two cups! Caffeine headache!)
2) One graphic novel… because I can’t stop skipping around from book to book! (and I didn’t/don’t want to finish Grave Mercy too soon)
3) The skipping around = no “favorite read” so far, but Grave Mercy is *amazing!* And so is A Jane Austen Education by William Deresiewicz! And I was listening to What Remains by Carole Radziwill -very interesting…
4) Peanut Butter Pretzels!
5) Everyone is so different! I’m planning on making that part of my Sunday, to really read over all these great blogs!

Backtracking a bit…

I never made an official-type posted list of books I was going to try and read. (I probably shouldn’t confess how outlandishly optimistic I can be -quite yet anyway.) But I’m sharing a quick picture of the stack I’m picking from for the next twelve hours. Ready?

Wish me luck!

Eep! I *love* a bookmark! I have a mini-bookmark collection… naturally! (right?) And I happen to have one of my favs -a Book Depository bookmark with me today!

It’s got two sides that are equally adorable… wanna see?

The green side helps you convert clothing sizes from UK to EUR to US, both men and women’s sizes! The little feet? They’re on the side that tells your international shoe size! So this bookmark? It 1) holds my place in any book I may choose to read, and 2) is useful when ordering from places like Boden or Top Shop -pretty sweet, huh?

One Librarian’s Book Reviews is challenging readers to create a book puzzle from pictures that represent words in a book title… Phew! I hope this works!

Eek! So out of Sync?

I’m jumping around a bit… Caffeinated! Already?! But that’s what I’m going to use as an excuse (The Cat’s at home and I’m in a coffee shop, so … you do the math?)

But I’m a gonna try the acrostic challenge hosted by Book Drunkard:

Jane Austen’s Emma by Nancy Butler and Janet Lee is a wonderful, graphic novel adaptation of the classic -and I highly recommend! If you know a reluctant reader who’s been assigned Emma for class? Ta-dah! Problem solved! It’s got all the important details, with pictures and is easy to follow! Loved it!

E= easy to read, easy to love
M= marvelously illustrated
M= minuets never sounded so sweet
A= all around winner!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

1) A lovely suburb of Cleveland!
2) Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers!
3) All of them?
4) I’m a non-ageist reader; I’m the proud owner of a self-created craftorium; and I am a picky eater… go figure!
5) I did, but as an 80% spectator with super droopy eyes at the end. This time? I’m getting in there with a larger choice of books and a better understanding of how tired I’m going to be at the end!

First Day. First Post.

Yep. First day, first post… of this blog! But worry not, it’s not actually the first blog I’ve ever created! I’ve started two other blogs for work, so I’m not a total newbie? Just new to blogging only about me, me, me! Well. Also, what The Cat demands… Lucy (aka The Cat) is a strong force in my world. She’s got lots and lots of opinions, and she’s not afraid to share! So I’ll be laying the blame slash giving credit, where credit is due, all about The Cat!

Today The Cat told me to: start this blog, join Dewey’s Read-a-Thon, and read/snack for as long as I can! I’ve been reading/snacking, but here’s the first jump into the Read-a-Thon… as commanded!
