I appreciate Mr. Gaiman’s great spirit and interesting books -but it’s his All Hallows Read event that makes me heart Neil Gaiman without reservation! I saw this last year and shared it with friends. This year I’m sharing it with more friends *and* I’m going to jump on board! Books for all -and candy too, how about you? (The mini-rhyme? Bonus!)
Phew. So it’s taken me a whooooollle week to think about anything of substance, but I did it! The “day after” I finished Code name Verity by Elizabeth Wein and -again- it’s been a whooooollle week to finish A Fistful of Collars by Spencer Quinn. But I did have a few ideas of how I might tweak my approach to the next read-a-thon:
1) *don’t* pick something that you’ve really been looking forward to reading -you’ll be sorry if you rush,
2) *do* have a bunch of short books -do you want the satisfaction of reading one 500 pg book OR five 100 pg books!,
3) *do* get up and move around as often as possible -what a good time to listen to a book,
4) *do* plan on being so tired around hour 22 that it’s a struggle to stay awake -next time, I plan to stand and read to see if that helps!
My big plan for the week ahead? Make this blog fancy! Oh, the excitement!

1. It might have been the shock that at 4am? Still four more hours to go!
2. Last year I loved the Brian Selznick book -Invention of Hugo Cabret.
3. I applaud the entire effort! It has to be so hard to organize all the details and the people and stuff. Good job!
4. I was better prepared, but still have lots of room for improvement!
5. Three full books, 1/3 of another bigger book, two graphic novels, and a magazine! (which totally counts -it was reading!)
6. Safekeeping, Better Than Beauty, A Jane Austen Education, Grave Mercy-didn’t finish, Jane Austen’s Emma- graphic novel, and Of Lamb- graphic novel, plus Entertainment Weekly.
7. Who can pick a favorite? (especially right now?)

Midnight Book Girl asked for what seemed like such a simple thing -make a sentence made from three or more book titles (showing the spines in a photo)… Holy cow! It’s hard! I think I made two pretty sad sentences. You tell me what you think:

1) I can’t shake the caffeine I had back in hour six! (Only two cups! Caffeine headache!)

3) The skipping around = no “favorite read” so far, but Grave Mercy is *amazing!* And so is A Jane Austen Education by William Deresiewicz! And I was listening to What Remains by Carole Radziwill -very interesting…

Eep! I *love* a bookmark! I have a mini-bookmark collection… naturally! (right?) And I happen to have one of my favs -a Book Depository bookmark with me today!
It’s got two sides that are equally adorable… wanna see?
The green side helps you convert clothing sizes from UK to EUR to US, both men and women’s sizes! The little feet? They’re on the side that tells your international shoe size! So this bookmark? It 1) holds my place in any book I may choose to read, and 2) is useful when ordering from places like Boden or Top Shop -pretty sweet, huh?
